EXPULSION POWER FUSES

Protection of small power transformers.  Protection of potential transformers/station service transformers.  Protection of capacitor banks.  All ideal applications for Southern States line of expulsion power fuses.  With a wide range of kV ratings (15.5 kV through 169 kV), continuous current ratings (1 A through 400 A), and interrupting ratings (8 kA asymmetrical through 40 kA asymmetrical) Southern States expulsion power fuses fit most any application.  Four speed ratios--PF slow speed, PM medium speed, PX fast speed, and PE NEMA-EEI standard speed--are available to allow coordination with other system protective equipment.  Four mounting arrangements--vertical, horizontal underhung, 45 degree underhung, and "V" configuration--provide maximum versatility to fit your specific installation need.

72.5 kV and below units are furnished with single channel bases (except for the "V" configuration units), while 121 kV through 169 kV units are furnished with double channel bases.  48.3 kV and below units are furnished as standard with the power fuse live parts factory assembled and adjusted on insulators, and 72.5 kV through 169 kV units can be furnished with the power fuse live parts factory assembled and adjusted on insulators for an additional charge if specified.  Terminal pads are 2 hole NEMA single piece cast bronze and are furnished unplated unless tin plating is specified.  ANSI 70 gray porcelain station post insulators are furnished as standard but chocolate porcelain station post insulators or non-porcelain (epoxy) insulators can be furnished if specified.

The robust construction of Southern States power fuses provides the user 3 full fault operations before tube replacement is required, a significant savings in total life cost vs. the competition's power fuses which require tube replacement after each fault regardless of fault magnitude.  Undeniably, total life cost is a much more relevant cost measurement than first cost when making a decision on whose power fuse to buy.

Already have the competition's power fuses on your system but want to convert to Southern States power fuses to achieve the significant total life cost advantages the Southern States units provide?  No problem.  Southern States can furnish our power fuse live parts (jaw assembly, hinge assembly, fuse tube, and fuse link) to fit on the existing power fuse's insulators and base, thus making the conversion quick and easy.  If the existing power fuse's insulator spacing does not match the insulator spacing of the Southern States power fuse retrofit then Southern States will furnish adapter plates to make up the spacing difference.  Just send us the catalog number of your existing power fuse and we will do the rest.  And for new installations choose Southern States power fuses from the start.

When you need expulsion power fuses think Southern States first, last, and always.
